So how will the Cincinnati area brackets shape up? Who is on upset alert and who has the easiest path to the Regionals? We answer those questions and more as we go over each bracket thoroughly in Intro to Bracketology 101: Division IV.
Dayton 3 (Taylor H.S.)
While all signs point to a Ripley-Union (2)/Gamble Montessori (3) meeting in the sectional finals, Ripley must be careful not to overlook 4th seeded New Miami in their opening round game. The Vikings have a talented family duo in the backcourt in Trey and Jordan Robinette, Class of 2021, who combined to average over 30ppg along with 2019 F Ronnie Bowman who lead the MVC in rebounding at over 10ppg. It would be in Ripley best interest not to take this game lightly.
Gamble’s path on the other hand should be a lot easier than Ripley’s. Their opening round game is against conference foe and 11th seeded Cincinnati College Preparatory Academy. The Gators beat the Lions by a combined 83 points in their two regular season meetings. Coach Allen squad should then move on to face Middletown Christian in the 2nd round before moving on to the sectional final.
For a D-IV program Gamble has really good depth, with the ability to go 7 or 8 deep in their rotation, which is also full of talent. I expect the Gators to advance out of this bracket.
Sectional Prediction: Gamble over Ripley
Dayton I (Taylor H.S.)
Besides Moeller, no #1 seed in Cincinnati has an easier path than Cincinnati Christian whose opening round game is against SCPA (10) who finished the season 5-14 but did finish the season winning 4 of their last 5 games. Despite that expect the Cougars to move where they will then play another CMAC-Blue opponent in Hillcrest before playing the winner of Miami Valley Christian Academy (5) and Lockland (8). Not one team in CCS path to the sectional final has a winning record.
Sectional Prediction: CCS over MVCA
