Prospect Spotlight: Brayden Kindhart (2022)
When we saw Brayden Kindhart hooping at our Top 250 Expo last fall, it became clear that he was one of the state’s bright young stars.
It comes as no surprise to us that the Cedar Rapids Jefferson product has become one of just a handful of freshman playing with the varsity at the 4A ranks.
A mature skill-set and an ability to take his man off the bounce, where he can then create for himself for others, is where he excels.
“I can get my teammates involved in the games, I’m not just a pure scorer,” said Kindhart. “I know how to share the ball well, I’m a good slasher and I’m a good spot-up shooter.”
Kindhart started the season splitting time with the sophomore and varsity units. Now, he’s running exclusively with the J-Hawks’ varsity.
“We’ve played a lot of good teams, like Cedar Falls, Prairie, Dubuque Senior; and me coming off the bench, I fulfill my role, which is to keeping our team energized and keeping going what the starters have done,” said Kindhart.
“And I feel like I’m doing pretty good; I’m doing my job, doing what I’m supposed to.”
When his freshman season is complete, he’ll embark on a 15U offseason with Iowa Barnstormers.
“I’m really trying to get noticed and get my name out there,” said Kindhart. “And I just want to compete with the best players across the nation.”
