Simeon gained separation in the second quarter and never looked back in a marquee win over Bolingbrook.

The Wolverines were impressive in a 67-59 win while playing without star senior Kejuan Clements, who was out with the flu.

Bolingbrook was an ice-cold 2-for-10 to open the game and it didn't get much better. Senior guards Joseph Yesufu and Tyler Cochran shot a combined 7-for-25 in the loss.

Here are 10 best from Saturday's game.

Game thread

1. MVP

Antonio Reeves (Simeon 2019, G, 6-foot-4) - 24 points (6-11/1-3/11-13); 7 rebounds, 5 assists

Reeves was incredibly efficient in every aspect of the game. Most importantly, he demanded the ball down the stretch and went a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line to secure the win. He spread the ball around to his teammates and crashed the glass on both ends.

2. Play of the game

Bolingbrook was charging back into the game in the fourth quarter when Joseph Yesufu got a steal and threw an outlet pass. Hollis Rodgers (2019) found Darius Burford (2020) for a quick layup.

3. Best offensive performance

Jaylen Drane (Simeon 2022, G, 6-foot-2) - 16 points (5-10/3-4/3-6); 3 assists

Drane was impressive on the offensive end. He had a fluid jump shot that he hit with consistency, which he was consistent throughout. He made a bucket in every quarter and moved the ball within the flow of the offense. He makes plays beyond his years as I was surprised to learn he was only a freshman.

4. Best defensive performance

Tyler Cochran (Bolingbrook 2019, G, 6-foot-2) - 4 rebounds, 2 steals

With his shot not falling it would've been easy for Cochran to lose focus on the defensive end, but he didn't. He brought energy to that end of the floor, good court awareness to fight for rebounds and get several deflections, two of which led to steals.

5. Best guy off the bench

Frederick Poole (Simeon 2021, G, 6-foot-1) - 5 points (2-2/1-1/0-0); 2 rebounds

Poole did his damage in a decisive second quarter. He provided good energy off the bench on both ends of the court, showing good physicality getting inside and battling for an offensive rebound.

6. Best intangibles

Ahamed Bynum (Simeon 2021, G, 6-foot-2) - 10 points (3-5/2-3/2-2); 2 rebounds

Bynum wasn't 'wowing' anybody on Saturday but he played well within the flow of the game. He took what was given to him and showed good agility to stay in front of his man defensively.

7. Best under-the-radar performance

Darius Burford (Bolingbrook 2020, G, 6-foot-1) - 12 points (5-12/1-4/1-4); 3 rebounds, 1 assist

Burford was one of the few bright spots for the Raiders. On what was a tough shooting night for Bolingbrook, he filled up and finished at the rim.

8. Best underclassman

Andre Casey Jr., (Simeon 2022, G, 6-foot-8) - 9 points (4-5/0-0/1-2); 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block

Casey Jr. has the making of a star by the time he's an upperclassman. He worked primarily inside offensively because he has the athletic ability and length to get to the rim at will. He has a good understanding of the offense and moves well within it. Watching his progression throughout the years is going to be exciting.

9. Best rebounder

Jeremiah Stamps (Simeon 2019, F, 6-foot-7) - 6 rebounds (1 offensive)

Stamps is a big-bodied forward that got in good positioning to seal on his box-outs. He was immovable, which made securing rebounds easy. When he came into the game, it was apparent what his role was.

10. Best energy

Isiah Burd (Bolingbrook 2019, G, 6-foot-3) - 7 points (2-6/2-6/1-2); 1 rebound, 1 assist

Burd came in cold off the bench in the fourth quarter as Bolingbrook played the fullcourt pressure/fouling game. He was the 3-point shooter that the Raiders looked to as they cut the deficit down to single digits late in the game. His energy was a big part of it, which included securing an offensive rebound.

Lines of the night
