Past that top four, we get into a rural Northwest Ohio/Dayton-area teams, many of which have played each other already. Head-to-head wins separated Columbus Grove, Ottoville, Delphos St. John’s and Legacy Christian from the teams on the bubble, like Minster. Also, Marion Local and Springfield Catholic Central snuck in.
Other teams to watch include Jackson Center, South Central, Russia, St. Henry, Emmanuel Christian, Ripley Union, and Gamble Montessori.
Team | W-L | Avg. Pt. Dif. | Quality Wins | Losses | Notes |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
#1 Richmond Heights | 5-3 | 13.1 | Gahanna, Lorain, Bendictine | It's strange to say, but the losses are the most important piece of their résumé — their challenging schedule will prepare them for anything they could see in a Division IV playoff game. | |
#2 Convoy Crestview | 5-1 | 17.9 | Bluffton | The Etzler brothers, Javin and Kalen, continue to play at a high level and Crestview's one slip-up shouldn't be seen as a real concern. | |
#3 Maumee Valley | 5-1 | 22.3 | Southview | A loss last night to Southview by two points is a fine outcome against a Division I opponent. Michigan commit Zeb Jackson is a flat-out problem. | |
#4 Berlin Hiland | 7-1 | 24.75 | Grandview Heights | East Tech | Grandview Heights is a team we gave great consideration as a top ten D-III team and Hiland beat them by 26! Also, East Tech is a D-I team sitting at 8-0. |
#5 Columbus Grove | 5-2 | 6.1 | Jackson Center, Ottoville | Wayne Trace, Arlington | This is the point of the rankings where head-to-head wins became the way teams were separated. |
#6 Ottoville | 7-2 | 12.8 | Delphos St. John's, Elida | Columbus Grove, Antwerp | Sophomore Josh Thorbahn may eventually lead this team to state, even if it's not this year. He's on a tear so far this season. |
#7 Delphos St. John's | 6-1 | 7.7 | Minster | Ottoville | Currently the top team out of the MAC with a win over Minster. Lost to Ottoville by 18, though. |
#8 Marion Local | 2-1 | 13.6 | Shawnee | Lot of unknown pieces filling out the roster for the reigning State Champs. However, Nate Bruns can be the difference-maker on any given night, even against a more complete roster. | |
#9 Springfield Catholic Central | 8-0 | 15.5 | CCHS has real talent on their roster, led by Trey Dunn and Sabien Doolittle, but they haven't played anyone who can really challenge them. | ||
#10 Legacy Christian | 6-2 | 17.5 | Minster | Stivers | LCA is the major surprise team lead by freshman Mike Sharavjamts and senior Erik Uzynskki. They beat our unofficial no. 11 team, Minster, and lost to Stivers by just 12. On a six-game win streak. |
