Now Ryan Wade is blazing his own path. The 6’3″ senior shooting guard from Ann Arbor Skyline has seen his rankings rise over the past 6 months. He has now put himself among the elite players in Michigan and squarely into the discussion for Michigan’s Mr. Basketball. Through hard work and dedication, Wade has gone from a torn ACL as a freshman, to being one of the best players in Ann Arbor basketball history.
Wade really started his rise up the prospect rankings last season. He was a key member of a 23-1 Ann Arbor Skyline team, the best in school history. Wade averaged 13.6ppg and 2.6apg. He helped Skyline win an SEC title, a District Championship, and a trip to tbe Regional Championship game. Wade was a member of the 1st Team Ann Arbor Area Dream Team.
After his final high school campaign, Ryan Wade is set to step into Division 1 college basketball. He is committed to Holy Cross where his will join crosstown rival Drew Lowder (Ann Arbor Pioneer). Wade and Lowder joined forces this summer, playing grassroots basketball together for 1Nation. Wade also received offers from schools such as Central Michigan, Toledo, and Kent State. He had over 10 offers in total.
Wade is a quiet leader who is considered a role model for his team and the entire Skyline student body. He’s a true student-athlete, holding a 3.4GPA. With the graduation of seniors Brandon Wade and Jack Ammerman, Ryan Wade’s role will grow exponentially. He is a shut down defender. He’s one of, if not the best, perimeter defenders in the state of Michigan. Wade uses his length to step into passing lanes. This routinely frustrates offenses and creates turnovers. Wade takes pride in always being asked to guard the other teams top threat on the perimeter.
He is a natural shooter and scorer who has no limit in his range. This summer during grassroots season, Wade routinely lit up opponents from behind the arc. He always kept the scoreboard moving for his team. Wade can slash to the basket and get buckets making him a threat to score from anywhere on the floor. He’s filled out and become a physical player and solid rebounding guard. Wade has a high basketball IQ and an elite court prescense that can’t be taught.
The state of Michigan is lucky to have a basketball player like Ryan Wade. Through hard work and dedication, he has put himself into the discussion as a candidate for Mr. Basketball.
