Lowder is coming off a big season. Last year he averaged 19ppg and 4apg. He recently committed to Holy Cross. Lowder will team up at Holy Cross with crosstown rival Ryan Wade from Ann Arbor Skyline. Lowder was also recruited by the likes of Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Toledo, Northern Illinois, and Ferris State. He will be fun to watch in the offensive system employed by Holy Cross Head Coach Bill Carmody. Lowder is the type of player who loves to be coached and taught, helping to make him one of the most intriguing prospects in the state.
Drew Lowder is the definition of a dynamic point guard. He’s quite possibly one of the best pure point guards that the state of Michigan has seen in some time. Lowder is a flashy and confident scoring lead guard. He’s a gritty competitor who has no off switch. It’s 100% every time he touches the court. Lowder has an incredibly quick first step that allows him to break down a defender and get to the rim. He is a creative genius when finishing at the basket. Lowder uses his excellent handles to get into the lane. He’s an outstanding passer from the lane to open shooters or teammates cutting to the basket. Lowder has an intense focus that allows him to drain contested mid range jumpers. He’s a dangerous 3 point shooter who can sink the deep ball off the dribble or catch. Lowder is excellent at creating space in order to get his shot off. He is a gamer who plays big in the most important moments.
Lowder is a special athlete with a great mind frame. As a four year varsity player, he knows exactly what’s going on around him. Lowder has great pride in the uniform that he puts on and who he represents. In fact, he’s a large part of a culture in Ann Arbor where players from rival schools support each other. It’s a classiness and respect for opponents that is sometimes overlooked. This outlook that Lowder has is what a Mr. Basketball finalist should represent. He’s become a role model for young basketball players in Michigan.
