Continue ReadingWith the year of 2018 coming to a close, it’s only right that we wrap up the year with our Cumberland County Public Schools Rankings. This has been a very exciting season for basketball so far and the scary part is that it’s just getting started.
#1 71st HS (9-1)
The Falcons recently took home the Holiday Classic Championship and have only one loss on the season which came to top 10 ranked Pinecrest. Seniors Brion Mclaurin and Tre Bell are leading the squad in scoring at just about 20 PPG each.
#2 Westover (10-1)
The Wolverines have been rolling this season, and their first loss came to 71st HS last week in the Holiday Classic. Westover gets it done by committee with Junior Traymond Willis Shaw and Senior Guard Tyron George being a few of the guys that contribute.
#3 Pine Forest (8-4)
The Trojans have been off to a solid start this year; they have a nice amount of veteran play and play the game with intensity. Senior Forward Miles Ray has been outstanding so far and has turned plenty of heads; he should have some JUCO programs offer soon.
#4 Jack Britt (6-4)
The Bucs have had an up and down season, they took a loss to Southern Lee who would go on to win the bracket Championship. They bounced back with a win over Terry Sanford In the 3rd place game which gave them the nod over TS for the 4th spot.
#5 Terry Sanford (6-3)
The Bulldogs are still finding their way as they have added their football players that made a deep run in the playoffs. They have a high amount of underclassmen talents so don’t be surprised to see them get better as the year goes on.
#6 Cape Fear (8-3)
The Colts have had some success this season and a huge part of that is due to their gifted PG Marquell James who is averaging over 20 PPG. Combine his talent with the high basketball mind of Head Coach Kee and you have a team that can be scary.
7. Grays Creek (4-7), 8. EE Smith (4-8), 9. Southview (1-11), 10.Douglas Byrd (1-10)
