Freedom Christian vs Fayetteville Academy: Names To Know
Fayetteville Academy and Freedom Christian met up to do battle on Thursday night with a new look for both programs. Some new transfers in, new coaching staffs to go along with the new season always makes things interesting. Fayetteville Academy would get out to an early lead and would extend it throughout the game, finishing with an 81-66 win.
Fayetteville Academy Senior Guard John Michael Wright: This game was pretty much his show, he was dominant from the start of the game to the end. In the first half he scored 21 points, got to his spots well and knocked down shots with efficiency. In the 2nd half he didn’t score as much but was more of a playmaker and a one man press break. He would finish with 31 points on the night which would bring his average in the first two games of the season to just under 30 points a night.
Freedom Christian Senior Guard Thomas Miles: Came off the bench and provided some very good play at the PG spot. He did a solid job of running the team as well as finding moments to get his own offense going, solid showing for his debut at Freedom.
Fayetteville Academy Senior Forward Williams Oyeondi: He didn’t have his best showing offensively but he made more of an impact as the game went on. Rebounding and finishing inside the paint were areas where he was productive, he finished with 16 points on the night.
Freedom Christian Senior Guard Brandon Murray: He started off the game hot with 10 of his 12 points coming in the first half. Catch and shoot situations is where he was the most productive, he squares up and gets his shot off pretty quickly.
Fayetteville Academy Freshman Wing Amari Pearson: Plays with one of the highest motors in the area, he is a player that is constantly giving it everything he has on the court. He knocked down some midrange shots and did a solid job of finishing in transition. This is his first year with the Eagles so he is still adjusting but we like what he brings and the potential he has to be a very good player.
Freedom Christian Junior Guard Ambaca Le Gregam: There is alot to like about his game and what he can potentially be. He is still adjusting to certain aspects of the game on this side of the globe but one thing that has translated pretty smoothly is his shooting. He knocked down three treys in a row in the 2nd half to try and help his team make a final run. As time goes on, we only expect him to get better so he is one to keep an eye on for sure.
Fayetteville Academy Senior Forward/Center Emmanuel Izunabor: Rebounding and protecting the paint were some of the things that he was able to do at a high level. Some players wait for the rebounds to come to them, and other go after it to make a play. Emmanuel is the type of youngster that is going after every loose ball, every rebound, and play each game like it’s his last.
