Game of the Night
Corner Canyon vs. Cedar
The last game of the night was a good one as Cedar was able to give Corner Canyon everything they could handle. A game that was back in forth from the end of the 3rd quarter on. The officials took the game out of the players hands as they were calling a lot of bad calls. Corner Canyon was plagued wit foul trouble and Gabe Toombs had to play carefully with four fouls the entire 4th quarter. Hayden Welling was getting to the free-throw line but a lot of his shots just rimed out. When starting PG Phill Harris picked up his 4th foul Coach Lunt put in Sophomore G Tyler Thompson in. Tyler was left wide open on the left wing and hit an 3-pointer that sparked the Charger offense. Gabe Toombs came in after a dead ball and immediately hit a 3-pointer as well. Dallin Petersen kept Cedar in it by hitting tough shot after tough shot. Cedar had a chance to take the last shot but turned it over on a questionable travel.
Corner Canyon had the ball for the last shot with 9 seconds but they denied Phill Harris the ball and twice and Cole Hagen found Gabe Toombs who missed the shot on the right side but Cedar didn’t box-out Hayden Welling who came flying in to tip in the game winning shot as time expired. Corner Canyon escaped a major upset 44-42.
