Conference Commentary
Top Ten Potential – St. Paul Central, St. Paul Johnson
Can Central get into the top ten in a balanced and loaded Class AAAA? Central brings back their top five guys and players around them for depth. Central should win 20 games and if they can pull off a big win, there is a chance you could see them get some AAAA votes. Then there is Johnson in AAA, they lost four of their top seven guys but Jordan Mobley, Lamont White, and DeWayne Givens are all players that can keep them winning.
Compete with Most – Harding, Highland Park
Harding was a game over .500 last year and they bring back their top players in Jovan Christian, Simeon Sharp, and Martin Danielson. This could be the year they have been working for at Harding for so, so, so long. Highland Park only won ten a year ago but Evan Brodtman is a 20 a game guy and he has a few more back with him.
Rebuilding – Humboldt, Como Park
Both teams lost most of their starters and most of their top scoring production. Donn Ward is back for Como Park and he could have a huge year, but he has a lot of new guys around him. Darnell King has a chance to be really good for Humboldt but they also graduated most of their guys.
Don’t know – Washington
The amount of times we’ve heard that Washington lost most of their guys to transfer and graduation is higher than any other team. If Zameon Smith and Drewjuan White return with their 33 points a game the pair could make that 45 a game as a junior combo. If they are back this could be a top 4 team. If not, and the rumors are true, the team could struggle worse than last year’s 6-win team.
