Prospect Spotlight: Bryce Walker (2020)
Bryce Walker, a class of 2020 guard at Good Counsel, looks like he’s ready to make a jump this year. After a solid offseason, Walker is receiving interest from a bevy of division one programs. During a recent interview with Prep Hoops, he talked about the improvements he’s making to his overall game and recruitment.
PH: What’s the most improved part of your overall game in the last six months?
BW: “Just consistency really. My ball-handling, athleticism, and decisiveness; just knowing when to go and when not to go, are three aspects that I’ve really been working with.”
PH: What’s the most underrated aspect of your overall game?
BW: “Defense for sure. I think I’m a really good defensive player. I feel like whoever I play against, no matter what your rank is or your rep rank is, I’m ready to lock you up. That’s really something I take pride in.”
PH: What do you think you need to work on?
BW: “Catch and shoot is the one thing I need to work on. I think off the dribble I can get to that. Just consistency really on the shooting side of things.”
PH: How are your grades right now?
BW: “I have a 3.3 GPA right now.”
PH: What schools are recruiting you right now?
BW: “Right now a lot of Patriot League schools. Lehigh, Lafayette, Holy Cross, Boston University. We’ve talked to UMBC and Howard among others.”
PH: What are your short and long term goals?
BW: “Get a few offers this year. See where it takes me, and hopefully end up playing division one basketball.”
PH: What do you think you can bring to a college program?
BW: “I think I can bring athleticism, leadership, and a hard-working player. Although I might not be one of those “blue chip” guys, I feel like I can step out onto the court and be one of those rugged guys who can get you what you need whenever.”
