TEAM OVERVIEW
Expectations: “We want to compete every time we step on the floor. The LCAA is well balanced this year and every win will be earned. We are playing a tough non conference schedule to prepare us for Districts.” – Coach Janssen
Concerns: “We will need to find consistent shooting from some of our role players. If those guys can play with confidence I know they can help us spread the floor.”
– Coach Janssen
Best Case Scenario: “We improve every practice and game and become the best team we can be by Districts.” – Coach Janssen
Key Returners:
Clay Sampson (2019, PG)
Zach Johnston (2019, F)
Tommy Colpaert (2019 G)
Sam Brettschnieder (2019, F)
Travis Wegener (2020, G)
Key Newcomers:
Michael Guy (2021, G)
Landon Bryant (2021, F)
The Ida boys basketball team will be led this season by point guard Clay Sampson. He is a returning All-Monroe County player. “Can shoot from deep, use quickness to get to the rim, great on the defensive end.” – Coach Janssen
The LCAA conference should be very balanced. With star players like Ty Wyman (Blissfield), Joey Liddell (Erie Mason) and Ethan Hunt (Onsted), the race for the championship should be tight. The LCAA conference race may come down to the supporting casts. This being the case, Ida High School should be in the mix come the end of the season. As the Ida roster gains experience and confidence, they have the skills to be a dangerous team. The Ida basketball team will be a threat to win a championship when the District tournaments take place.
