Contenders, Prospects, & Sleepers: UIL 6A-III District 20
It is October and that means its only days away from UIL season opening games. Let’s take a dive into various UIL Districts, and begin previewing teams and the players to watch! Today we dive into the UIL 6A-III District 20!
Pre-Season Player of the Year
Donovan Williams is the clear cut favorite to win district MVP. Donovan is committed to the University of Texas Longhorns. He will be able to stretch out the floor, as he is capable of scoring from all 3 levels of the floor.
Team to Beat
Elkins will be the team to beat in the district. Led by seniors Donovan Williams and Collin Warren. They will also receive great contribution from sophomore point guard Jacolbi Harris. As they have made to jump from 5A to 6A they have the personnel to continue on last year success. Last season the Knights went 29-12 (14-2). They made it the Regional Final last year and lost to the eventual state champs.
Biggest Threat
Bush who went undefeated in district last year will still be a threat, despite the loss of some major pieces. Junior point Lejon “DJ” Stewart will look to lead the Broncos to compete as a top dog in the district.
