Top 250: Scouts Notes
The Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo packed the MSA Fieldhouse full of basketball talent. As a scout, I spent the day circling the gym trying to evaluate as much talent as possible. I’m going to give you an inside look at a portion of my notes from the Top 250.
PREP HOOPS TOP 250: Notes
#57 (Evan Metz, 2019, G, Hartland):
– Game has grown! Not just a shooter.
– Making excellent passes; scoring in transition, paint, as well as by jumper
– PLAYING D!!!!!
#61 (Josh Palo, G, Howell): Love the look of his jumper; looks primed for big senior season; underrated ball handler – doesn’t waste dribbles
#1 Britton Angell (6’3”, Crossroads Charter Academy):
– Diverse game offensively – good shooter; very good vertical
Almost easy for him to score!!!
Looks like a college Bball player to me!
Caleb Hodgson (6’9”, Dansville): Such a weapon offensively
– from jumper to cutting to rim
– showed ability to block shots and protect rim
#74 Josiah Shamsiddeen
– Fast downhill player
– Solid finisher and midrange jumper
#78 Mikkos Stewart (2021, G, Brother Rice) Strong and steady; leader; ball handler
Jacob Tomsich (#81, Dow HS, 2020) SHOOTER! No limit on range!?!! Get more looks!
#53 Jovan Martin (6’5”, Royal Oak, 2019)
– Size and athleticism!
– Finisher. Gets up and down the court.
Kingsley Perkins (2021, F, AA Huron)
– Athletic, makes things happen on both ends
– Playing hard on D!
#130 (Brady Titus, 2022, G, Tri Unity Christian)
WOW; Aggressive downhill player on both ends, high energy, great feet, just forced another turnover!,
#99 Cameron Brilliantes (2022, G, Okemos)
SHOOTER!
Darian Henderson (6’3”, G, Wyandotte Roosevelt): Good passer! – crisp and from chest – especially from top of key to right wing
#17 (D’Quarion Cole, 2019, Pontiac, 6’3”)
– BULLDOG!
– Goes right and D knows it – but going right through them – head and shoulders up, clean drive!!
– PEOPLE STOPPED GETTING IN FRONT OF HIM
– Love his aggressiveness offensively
Clayton Dykhouse (2019, PG, Zeeland East): Can score from all three levels
#14 Tahj Chatman (2019, G, Ypsilanti-Lincoln)
– Perimeter D!; Stopper!;
– Excellent passing
– Can play on or off the ball
Deon Hayes (2021, PG, North Farmington)
Good ball handler! Can get to wherever he wants on the court. Driving the lane and dish to shooter!
KJ Rai (6’4”, 2021, Okemos)
– Finds buckets
– Athleticism
– Plays hard on both ends – will be a weapon in HS season
#135 Jack Williams (2021, G, AA Skyline)
Shooter!
I want to see him shoot every time I walk by!!
