Charlotte Area Kids
Prep Hoops took in the action at the USA National Prep Basketball Championships this weekend in North Myrtle Beach, SC. Prep Hoops saw some players from the Charlotte area that might need some extra attention.
Jermaine Jones (2018) – Charlotte Secondary
Jones was a pleasant surprise for us this weekend. Jones averaged around 18 ppg this season at Charlotte Secondary. Jones 6’3 off guard-wing type player shot the ball really well from the floor and needs to tighten up his handle. Jones is a raw talent and still might be growing. Jones attended Combine Academy HS and Garinger HS in the past.
Devian Smith (2018) – Elevation Prep Academy
Smith 5’9 fearless water-bug point guard has signed to play at Sandhills Community College (NC) next season. Smith is leading the Honey Badgers in scoring this season at 15.4 ppg. Smith never seemed to leave the floor and got his hands on a lot of lose balls. Smith played at West Charlotte HS before surfacing at Elevation Prep.
Ngoye Bob Manuel (2018) – Victory Christian Center (pictured on front)
Manuel 6’9 sure looks the part for the Kings. The Kings won there bracket at (3-0) and improved to (24-13) on the season. Manuel moves really well around the floor and rebounds on both ends. Manuel is still quite raw on the offensive end lacking a back to the basket post game. Manuel has a decent looking stroke on the foul line and seems very coachable. Head Coach Marcus Dilligard told Prep Hoops that Manuel has a 3.7 GPA and strong academics.
Nasan Ayala (2019) – Victory Christian Center
Ayala a New York City native played at Christ the King before landing in the Queen City. Ayala just 17 years old played AAU ball with the NY Rens. Ayala a point guard likes to utilize the crossover dribble to get by defenders. Ayala didn’t really look to shoot the ball on perimeter and preferred to attack the basket when given the chance.
