Week 10 Rankings Update
After another eventful week, there is a significant amount of shakeup in the rankings. For the first time this season, there is a new No. 1 team in Class 4A. We recap some of the movement below.
Grand View Christian (17-0) keeps rolling along, and seem to be truly rounding into form after the additions of a few transfers to the rotation became eligible. The top three remains the same with North Linn (21-0) and Remsen, St. Mary’s (19-0) following them. Bishop Garrigan of Algona (16-3) falls a spot following a loss to 2A Forest City, while Lynnville-Sully (16-3) takes their spot at No. 4. There are a pair of newcomers to the rankings, with Don Bosco (17-2) and New London (15-4) entering at No. 6 and No. 10, respectively. The Dons blasted previous No. 5 Dunkerton on Monday night, 62-39, causing the Raiders to drop out of the rankings.
All ten teams from last week remain ranked in Class 2A, led by top ranked Van Meter (19-0). Cascade (20-0) moves up to No. 2 following Western Christian’s (18-1) loss to Madison (SD). Madison is one of South Dakota’s top teams, so the Wolfpack don’t fall far, dropping a spot to No. 3. The biggest fall is by Sheldon (16-3), who drop from No. 5 to No. 8 following a loss to 1A No. 9 George-Little Rock.
Two-time defending state champion Cedar Rapids Xavier (12-5) reclaims their spot at the top of the rankings in Class 3A. The Saints suffered a loss last week to Cedar Falls, but move up as a result of Oskaloosa’s (16-2) loss to Norwalk. Oskaloosa drops from the No. 1 spot to No. 3, while Mount Pleasant (15-3) slides up a spot to No. 2. Norwalk (15-2), Glenwood (16-2) and Charles City (16-2) stay at 4-5-6. Davenport Assumption (9-8) slides up three spots from No. 10 to No. 7, and a pair of new teams, Spirit Lake (13-4) and Carroll (12-5) enter the ranks at No. 8 and No. 9, respectively.
There’s a new No. 1 team in Class 4A for the first time this season, and it’s the Dubuque Senior Rams (13-4). Fresh off a win at previous No. 1 Iowa City West, the Rams ascend to the top of the poll despite the four losses on their record. None of those losses came with Noah Carter in the lineup, and with him in there, they’ve shown what they’re capable of. They’re followed by a pair of CIML teams, Des Moines Hoover (14-1) and Des Moines North (16-2). Iowa City West (13-3) and Cedar Falls (13-4) round out the top five. Dubuque Hempstead (13-4) and North Scott (14-3) enter the rankings at No. 9 and No. 10.
