Tuesday Night North Louisiana Spotlight
It’s Tuesday night around the state and that means another Tuesday night of high school hoops. North Louisiana has some big contest on the hardwood tonight. District play is beginning to rev up all over and here at Prep Hoops we will highlight some of the key games on this frigid night in north Louisiana.
Notable Tuesday High school games:
Woodlawn (Shreveport) vs Huntington. The 18th ranked Huntington Raiders and their group of guards led by Coach Mack Jones will attempt to knock off the Knights of Woodlawn-Shreveport. Both teams are coming off of heartbreaking losses in their last outing. Huntington lost to Red River in the Doc Edwards tournament while Woodlawn lost to Madison Prep with a late turnover by Tra’michael Moton. Moton and star senior Jalen Brooks will look to move to 2-0 in district and ruin the district home opener for Huntington.
Captain Shreve vs Evangel. Senior Malik Cooper (6’3″ combo guard) leads the Evangel Eagles in this tilt against district foe Captain Shreve. Cooper and the Eagles have had a rough go at it to begin the season. Captain Shreve has not fared much better either with a record that is one game under .500 for December. Both teams will hope that the new year brings them some renewed confidence as well as a district win.
Pineville vs Neville. In this non-district battle, one team will be looking to continue its good fortune while the other will be trying to turn things around. Senior Matt Marx (6’4″ wing) will lead the Tigers into this game hoping that a win will give them their fifth victory in their last six games. Pineville is headed the opposite direction losing four straight. They are hoping their senior laden, guard heavy team will outlast the Tigers to break the losing skid. Look for athletic guard Jaylin Logan (6’2″) to make a difference in the game for Neville as well.
Parkway vs Southwood. Senior guard Ty Hubbard (5’10”) coming off his all-tournament team performance during the Doc Edwards tournament will look to lead the Panthers to an opening district victory against the Cowboys on the road. Kameron Davis (#3 ranking, class 2019) and Letreavin Black (2018) will look to use their height to pound Parkway on the glass and achieve a win in their first home district game in 2018.
Cedar Creek vs St. Frederick’s. Coach Terry Waldrop is back in coaching and has St. Frederick’s off to an 11-2 start. They face a 9-4 Cedar Creek team that has lost twice in their last eleven outings. Coach Waldrop will hope that sophomore guard Patraveous Johnson (6’3″) and the rest of the Warriors will extend their winning streak to eight games and avenge their last loss of the season. Whoever wins tonight’s game will have the early edge as district play begins.
