Recruiting Report: 2019 Chester Makoi
2019 big man Chester Makoi of Mount Zion had one of the better performances that I have seen from him at January JamFest last weekend. He finished with 17 points and 8 rebounds. He was extremely active on both sides of the ball and looked really good down low in the post around the rim. He plays with a high motor, he can run the floor well, he blocks shots and rebounds the ball on offense and defense He has helped his team become one of the better teams in all of North Carolina this year.
“The season is going good, we are 19-2, one of the top teams in North Carolina and we are just now starting to gel and getting better and of course we are not trying to lose any more games so I think our season is going well.”
There are a few schools that are in constant contact with the talented big man, “Recruitment is going good, the latest schools that I am hearing from the most is Longwood and Kansas State.”
He spoke on his relationship with Longwood, “They want me to be a part of the family, they want me bad so it is good with them. My relationship is really good with them, whenever I am there it is a family type atmosphere and the coaching staff don’t just talk to me about basketball but about life because they want to see me become a better man.”
Kansas State and Makoi are talking a fair amount as well, “They are just telling me to enjoy my year, get better and they keep encouraging me to get stronger physically and get in the weight room. Coach Frazier talks to me about how the ball is going to stop bouncing some day so you have to use your education to the best of your advantage.”
