NC’s High Flying Players
With the month of February just around the corner, we know that the NBA All-Star weekend festivities will be coming soon and many participants have already been voted in to different events. One of the events that fans always love is the Slam-Dunk contest, with players becoming more athletic each and every year it’s always interesting to see what type of dunks these youngsters can throw down. So what would happen if the state of North Carolina had a dunk contest? Who would be in it and would could we expect?
Christ School Junior Guard Jalen Lecque: If you’re on twitter, I’m pretty sure you’ve seen some type of highlights from this youngster already. He gets off the floor very quickly and has had his fair share of dunks in traffic, over players and has a swagger to him that you have to love.
Northwood Temple Senior Forward Ian Steere: It’s always difficult for the taller guys to impress the fans at a dunk contest but I don’t think he would have much of a problem doing so. He is probably the most powerful dunkers in the state, every time he dunks the ball it seems as if he is attempting to tear the rim off the backboard.
Walkertown HS Sophomore Guard Jalen Cone: Jalen comes in as the shortest dunker but he has the athleticism to compete for the crown. We have seen him throw down windmills and numerous other dunks that will shock you for a player of his height.
Kerr-Vance Academy Senior Andreas Wilson: If we are going simply by vertical leaping ability alone, Andreas may possibly be the highest jumper in the state. He has a 40+ inch vertical and has put it on full display throughout this season.
New Life Christian Senior Wing Devantae Gathers: Out of all the players that have been listed, he is probably the least known of the bunch. However he is a high flyer without a doubt and has put together a nice amount of highlight dunks throughout this season.
Overhills HS Junior Guard Zavian McLean: Zay has put together quite a few highlights over the past year , he has a solid frame so he embraces contact well when he is attacking the basket. His signature dunk has to be the one handed tomahawk jam, he threw one done in an early season tournament that had just about everyone in attendance going crazy.
