Mid-Season Best
This season is nearly halfway over and we have seen some players who have made a name for themselves so far into season. Here is a look at some of the top players so far this season in public school division of North Carolina high school basketball.
6’5, 2019 Wendell Moore-The highly regarded Moore is averaging 26.1 points per game for the defending NCHSAA 3-A state champs. He is a playmaking combo guard that can handle the ball, score off the dribble and can bang with the big guys down low.
6’4 2019 Ren Dyer-The athletic combo forward has been averaging nearly 30.4 points per game this season while leading North Buncombe High School to a 12-2 overall record. He is also one of the biggest rebounders in the state averaging close to 14 rebounds per game.
6’0, 2018 Deacon Heath-The UNC-Asheville signee has been scoring the basketball at a high rate since his freshman season. He is averaging 28.7 points per game this season for Avery County High School and has secured himself a walk-on spot at UNC-Asheville.
5’8, 2018 Isaiah Pruett-Averaging 26.7 points per game for AC Reynold High School this season and he has his team off to a 11-2 record so far this season. He is a do-it-all guard for Reynolds who can also get his teammates involved.
6’3, 2018 Jaylen Alston-The Gardner-Webb signee out of Eastern Guilford High School is averaging 25.5 points per game so far this season and is in the talk for NCHSAA Player of the Year.
6’7, 2018 Jayden Gardner-The East Carolina recruit is a walking double-double. He is averaging a team high of 25 points per game to go along with nearly 13 rebounds per contest. He is a skilled wing/forward who can play with his back to the basket and can knock down mid-range shots.
6’4, 2018 Cameron Whiteside-The slashing guard is averaging 24 points per game this season for Thomasville High School. He is a threat to score the ball whenever he gets his hands on it and has helped Thomasville to a -3 record this season.
