8 Best: Renton Indians (74) vs. Clover Park Warriors (71) – player notes
I can’t remember a more exciting time for the Renton Indians. To have the likes of Jaden Locke, Deondre Russ, Jaloni Garner and Malik Coats is ridiculous. This game had intensity written all over it. The game was close for quite some time but the indians were able to pull away with a 74-71 victory. Jaloni Garner was a monster in this game as well.
MVP | JALONI GARNER
Jaloni Garner did a bit of everything for the Indians in this one. The 2018 prospect scored a game high points, and led by example with his effort and energy.
BEST OFFENSIVE PERFORMANCE | DEONDRE RUSS
The Class of 2018 guard had a stellar game. Mixing it up with rim attacks and spectacular dunks is the reason why his performance stood out. He was also a factor on the defensive end with a flurry of blocked shots and great rebound. He kept the game close in the first half prior to garner getting in his groove.
BEST DEFENSIVE PERFORMANCE | JADON LOCKE
Jadon Locke led the game with 4 steals. The high D1 recruit, who scored double figure points in this game defensively was everywhere on the floor. When it comes to stops and guarding the other teams best players he is the guy they call on.
BEST REBOUNDER | MALIK COATS
We didn’t keep a tally of Malik Coats rebound total, but we’re almost certain it was close to double digits. The 6-foot-5 post does a nice job boxing out his man. Malik is very good at using his athleticism, long arms, and very strong hands to secure rebounds.
BEST GLUE GUY | MARCUS DANIELS
After a quiet start to this game, Marcus Daniels made his presence felt in the second half. The 5 foot 8 guard, who plays a deliberate style of ball, knocked down key jumpers, foul shots, and had some nice finishes in transition. Daniels ended up with double figures on the night.
BEST PASSER | DEONDRE RUSS
Russ dished out a game high 6 assists. He committed just 1 turnovers as well. The senior lead guard made intelligent, swift decisions after breaking down the first man. He contributed on the offensive end as well scoring 11 points in some key possessions.
BEST UNDERCLASSMEN | O’SHAE BARQUETT
Not only was O’shae Barquett the best underclassmen in this one, he was also one of the most aggressive players on the floor. The 5 foot 10 sophomore held his own against a mature front court. Barquett provided a spark with a couple of key steals down the stretch.
BEST STORY TO WATCH MOVING FORWARD
These two teams matchup one more time this season. After how competitive and exciting the first game was, it will be interesting to see how the rematch turns out.
