Prospect Spotlight: Lucas Nagel (2019)
George-Little Rock 6-foot-3 forward Lucas Nagel is off to a nice start to his junior season, and it’s his do-it-all approach to the game that has him flourishing.
A capable big, who is also able to play from the wing, Nagel defined his skill-set, strengths and weaknesses to PHIA.
“I feel like I can play really any position on the floor, I can step out and play wing, and I play a lot of post now. And I feel like I can pass really well from whatever position I’m at; I see the court really well,” said Nagel.
“I usually start the game out in the post and as the game goes on I step out and expand my game.”
He added: “I feel like my defense can improve the most. I feel like if I can become an elite defender, I’ll take my game to the next level.”
Nagel’s Mustangs are off to a good 5-2 start to the season, and he’s leading the team in scoring (12.4) and assists (4.9).
“We’re been having a great start to the season, we’ve been putting up some points and getting some stops on defense. We’ve been focusing a lot on defense this season and it’s really paying off, said Nagel, who laid out some realistic goals for himself.,
“I’d like to be all-conference this season, and lead my team to state.”
When his season is complete, he’ll once again play with South Dakota Attack, and then his recruitment might start to pick up.
“I’ve been talking to a couple NAIA schools,” said Nagel. “And I’m really hoping that once I improve a little bit, that I can start talking to some bigger schools and see where it takes me.”
