WNC’s Best Public School Players So Far
Here is a look at the top players in WNC so far this season.
2018 PG Isaiah Pruett-Averaging right around 29 points per game, Pruett has scored 33, 31, 29 and 25 points for AC Reynolds HS including the go-ahead three-pointer in a win against Erwin HS this week. Currently, according to MaxPreps he is 2nd in scoring in the state. Pruett is a scoring guard that can also get his teammates involved when the time is right.
Isaiah Pruett2019 G Devon Bassett-The 5-foot-8 Bassett has been on a scoring tear for Enka HS this season with a high of 31 coming in about a week ago. Head Coach Brian Carver has one of his most talented teams in Candler this season and look for The Jets to make a push come playoff time.
2019 F Landon Henley-The 6-foot-6 forward for Tuscola HS has been a monster so far this season, averaging almost 28 points and 14 rebounds per game. His game reminds me a lot of former Brevard College All-American Jonathan Whitson, a smooth scoring forward who is not overly athletic but just gets it done. Also a star baseball player.
2020 G Ben Bryson-The son of a coach and a former WNC standout, Bryson is a high IQ scoring guard. He had 29 points earlier this week in a win for West Henderson. He can shoot it, has a nice feel for the game and doesn’t make mistakes.
2018 G Deacon Heath-The UNC-Asheville recruit is doing what he has always done, score the basketball and win game. He has had games of 27, 28 and 31 last night against a solid West Wilkes HS team. Heath has the mental game and the skill set to back it up. He is athletic, can shoot it from anywhere in the gym and has a great work ethic. He will continue his career at UNC-Asheville next season as a preferred walk-on.
