Top WNC Juniors
The junior class in WNC is as strong as we have had in a couple of years. Here is a look at some of the players to take a look at over the upcoming season.
6’1 2019 Jake Smith-Playing with Team South Carolina this summer did nothing but improve this kid’s stock. He is a skilled guard that can light it up from three and can score off the dribble. He has worked on his athleticism and is now finishing plays at the rim and is attacking more. He has a great feel for the game and understands how to win. He will be a big piece in how far Enka High School can go this season. The Jets should be considered one of the top teams in WNC at the public school level.
D’Angelo Elliott6’3 2019 D’Angelo Elliott-The Carolina Day junior is a big wide shouldered guard that can score from anywhere on the floor. He has improved his jump-shot and is hard to guard with his size. He is physical on defense and has long arms that he uses well to get into passing lanes. He is a good rebounder and is able to knock down the three-point shot consistently and is able to score off the dribble. He has a nice handle and can get by defenders pretty regularly.
6’7 2019 Landon Henley-The NCBCA All-District selection is a skilled four-man at the high school level. He can step out and knock down mid-range jump-shots and can score off the low block. He is a big-bodied player that can grab a lot of rebounds. He has a soft touch around the basket and should be in the running for Conference Player of the Year this season for Tuscola High School. With the loss of Anthony Westhusing to graduation, Henley will be the main scorer for The Mountaineers this season.
