My Predictions: Where Will They Go
The 2018 class is starting to announce their future destinations for their college basketball careers. A few of the top unsigned seniors in the class are close to committing. In this series we take a look at some of the unsigned seniors and try and figure out where they may land.
Jairus Hamilton (Cannon School)-The 6th ranked player in the 2018 class has visited Maryland, Boston College & Mississippi State recently. Villanova has came on strong as well in the past few weeks. In my opinion, I feel like Maryland would be in the lead for Hamilton at this point. A dark horse may end up being North Carolina if they don’t land Zion Williamson and Hamilton is still on the board.
Malik Johnson (Terry Sanford HS)-If his recruitment ended today, I would have to put my money on Western Carolina University. His other two offers, VCU and Rhode Island have already picked up point guards in the 2018 class. He would fit in well at that conference and could be an all-league player in his freshman season.
Qon Murphy (Cannon School)-The athletic 6-foot-5 Murphy has had a slow-down in his recruitment since 2015. His only offers coming in 2016 are IUPUI and Alcorn State. At this point, Alcorn State looks like they may be the frontrunner with what the other programs have signed. Murphy would be able to come in and fight for minutes as a freshman.
KC Hankton (United Faith)-The stretch-four big man is one of the top shooters in the state and he is 6-foot-8. He recently visited Eastern Washington and had a good visit. Eastern Washington and Eastern Kentucky would provide the best chance of early playing time at the next level. I feel Hankton would fit best in an offense that uses the stretch four man spreading the floor out. His head coach Josh Coley had this to say about KC, “Murray State has been in communication with both me and him the last two weeks as well as Nebraska and Butler. He’s gone on an unofficial to UGA. Officials to Eastern Washington and Toledo. Hofstra is all over him as well.”
