Player Spotlight: Steph Lloyd
School: Lumberton HS
Class: 2018
Height: 6’0
AAU: RAID Nation
The lack of recruitment for this young man is something that honestly I have yet to figure out, and if you’re a D2 college program you will definitely want to continue reading. My first opportunity to see Steph Lloyd in action was during the Robeson County Shootout Championship game against Fairmont HS. As soon as he stepped on the floor you could see the potential in his game to be a very nice player overall. He had solid size for a PG, gave effort on both ends of the floor and had all the tools including the desire to do whatever it takes to win.
Fast forward to the summer time, this is where he grew up and began gaining more confidence as a player as well as becoming more vocal. He would have some good showings during the summer and would take valuable lessons that he learned with the Raid Nation squad, back to Lumberton and apply them to help his squad. He would finish up the summer with an impressive showing at UNC-P Elite Camp as well as helping his team get a championship win in their final event of the summer.
Now that his senior season has begun, we can clearly see the difference in his game from his junior year to senior year. He’s more vocal as a player, communicating with teammates and coaches and doesn’t seem to mind taking over the game if he needs to. In one of their most recent games he finished with 11 Points, 10 Rebounds & 9 Assist in a win over Red Springs HS. Any program that needs a guard that can facilitate, handle pressure well, High IQ, rebound and basically be a floor general should give Steph a call. His jumper will still need a little more perfection and some more upper body weight wouldn’t be a bad thing but overall he’s a very nice D2 prospect.
