Player Spotlight: Avery Daniels
Name: Avery Daniels
School: Fayetteville Christian
Height: 6’2
Class: 2019
Avery is a player that you probably have never heard of, unless you live in Fayetteville for the last two years and have seen the Fayetteville Christian squad years back when Avery was a middle school student. That is where I got the first opportunity to see him, his team was in a matchup with Village Christian Middle School in the Championship game. They trailed for a very large part of the game but would make a big time comeback in the 4th quarter and one of the main reasons why was Avery. He knocked down bigtime shot, after bigtime shot and was clutch in the final moments of the game, hitting a trey ball that would put FCS up for good as they would take home the Championship.
After leaving the area for a brief amount of time he returned to Fayetteville Christian and began his varsity career this past week as FCS matched up with New Life Christian in a game that brought out a huge crowd. He got into some early foul trouble but would check back in during the 4th quarter and would provide a huge spark for his team. He scored inside, outside, got to the free throw line and finished through all types of contact, all while keeping his cool when they game got intense. He would go on to finish with 20 Points, and although his team didn’t get the win, you could see why everybody in the gym respected his game.
So why haven’t you heard of him before? Well due to religion reasons he has been unable to play in games on Friday night and Saturday nights, which would cut out quite a few games as well as any type of AAU basketball. Once he becomes a certain age he will be allowed to play in all games, so whatever school ends up getting him will definitely be getting a steal, Low Major D1 and High D2 programs would be very nice fit for him.
