Palmetto State : Freshmen making a early impact
The basketball season has started here in the Palmetto State. The 2021 class we had a chance to see several of these players this past summer on the AAU Circuit. See what players are off to quick starts on there high school teams with games starting this week.
Adonis Davis (2021) – Blackville-Hilda HS (pictured on front)
Davis is no stranger to playing varsity basketball for the Hawks. First saw him play as a 7th grader. Davis scored 20 points last night in a blowout over Branchville HS.
Corey Graham (2021) – Manning HS
Graham scored 6 points in a lopsided win over East Clarendon HS. Graham a physically mature guard is a explosive athlete.
Caleb Houston (2021) – Northwood Academy
Houston recently scored 17 points with Prep Hoops in attendance at the Stall Holiday Tourney. Houston 5’9 guard plays for his father Anthony Houston.
Taneiri “TJ” Sanders (2021) – Marion HS
Sanders 6’3 scored 13 points in a season opening loss to Conway HS on Monday.
Mac Washington (2021) – Marion HS
Washington will see more time during the season and look for him and Sanders to be the corner stones to the Swamp Foxes future.
DaVeon Thomas (2021) – Lee Central HS
Thomas scored 13 points in a tough loss to Lakewood HS last night. Thomas a AAU teammate of Davis with the Central Carolina Force will be a key factor to the Stallions success.
Marshall Myers (2021) – Cheraw HS
Myers has the Braves off to a 1-1 start and a game at Darlington HS this evening. Myers will share the back court duties with Jalen Coit this season.
Cohen Gaskins (2021) – Pinewood Prep
Gaskins is playing on the ball for the Panthers and scored 11 points in a victory over Laurence Manning last night. Gaskins saw minutes last season as 8th grader.
Jaylen Campbell-McClurkin (2021) – Carolina Forest HS
Campbell-McClurkin scored 10 points in his season debut for the Panthers last night in a loss to North Myrtle Beach HS. Campbell-McClurkin moved into the area this summer from Chester, SC.
Dylan Williams (2022) – Irmo HS
Prep Hoops saw Williams last week at the Impact Sports Invitational Tourney in Spartanburg. Williams a jet quick guard is just a 8th grader that attends Irmo Middle School. Williams came off the bench in the first half and started in the 2nd half for Head Coach Tim Whipple. Williams was all over the floor causing chaos. Williams was a very poised player for his young age.
