News and Notes from NC
With the season starting and practice getting underway, there will be high school basketball games in about 2 weeks. In this article, we will take a look at some of the news around the state.
Stankavage at Ardrey Kell
One of the top 2020 prospects in the state, Luke Stankavage is now at Ardrey Kell High School outside of Charlotte. The shooting guard was at Providence Day School last season but had to have knee surgery right at the beginning of the season. He missed all of the past season and has transferred to play for Mike Craft at Ardrey Kill High School.
Wes Morgan Transfers
Former Ardrey Kell High School standout Wes Morgan has committed to Lees-McRae after starting his freshman season at North Florida University. Morgan is known for his size and shooting ability. He will not have to sit out any since he is transferring from Division I to Division II.
Burton Back in Action
Jamarius Burton is one of the top-25 recruits in the PrepHoopNC 2018 rankings and according to head coach Preston Davis, he is back in full form after an injury before the season started last year at Independence High School. Temple Head Coach Fran Dunphy was at Independence yesterday to watch Burton, a 6-foot-4 point guard who has the size and scoring ability to play at the mid-major to high-major level. Before his injury, ECU had offered Burton.
Hankton Visiting Eastern Washington
One of the top big men left in the 2018 class, KC Hankton of United Faith (Charlotte) is taking an official visit to Eastern Washington University this weekend. Hankton is a stretch four post player that is being recruited because of his size and ability to step out and knock down shots out to the three-point line. United Faith will be in action at The Charlotte Hoops Challenge over Thanksgiving.
