Mount Zion Standout Prospects
Last weekend we got the chance to see the Mt. Zion high school squad, they have a team full of talent including their starting big man who was not playing due to injury. Here are some of the players that stood out.
2019 PG El Ellis: El is a player that we knew about prior to seeing them play and he did not disappoint, he showed why he has D1 offers and is collecting mid to high interest. He has outstanding ball handling skills and doesn’t turn the ball over often, he does a good job of seeing plays before they happen and has impressive athletic ability. His play of the day came towards the ends of the game when he threw down a windmill with his off hand , he’s a player for D1 programs to keep a close eye on.
2018 Forward Kevin O’Banor: If there was a player of the game award, it would have to go to Kevin. Even though he had to deal with foul trouble, he was probably the most productive player on the floor throughout the day. He can play the game multiple way inside as well as stepping outside and knocking down the deep ball, schools like TCU, Wake Forest and Murray State all have offered.
2018 Forward/Center Augustine Ominu: He’s raw but his size and body are both intriguing, he does a good job of keeping the ball high after the rebound and finding the outlet guard. He could be a nice pickup for a school that needs a big as he stands at 6’9, and seems like he has a nice amount of upside.
2019 Wing Mareng Katgouh: One of the most intriguing prospects that we saw during the day, at 6’6 with guard skills, you have to love what he can possibly bring to the table. He has a very long wingspan and understands how to keep the game simple, where he really shined was from three point land. He knocked down a high amount of treys, especially from the corners, D1 have shown interest and rightfully so.
