Meet The Player: Jamal King Interview
We saw Jamal King last season at Wayne Country Day giving out buckets on a regular basis, now he has made the move over to Word of God which a team that will play a very high level opponents throughout the year. We got the chance to talk with Jamal last Friday after their game vs Huntington prep.
Q: How was the experience for you playing in the Hoops & Dreams Showcase?
Jamal: It was pretty good, playing in front of a big crowd, and playing on a big stage like this is always fun, you get a little nervous at first but you get used to it.
Q: How has your first year at Word of God been so far?
Jamal: It’s been different, I’ve had to chance my game a lot, coming from being more of a 1 on 1 player to playing with a team because every on this team can play. Just learning to play in a system is different it took a while to get to use to it.
Q: How has your college recruitment been so far?
Jamal: It’s been pretty much the same, I got offered by ECU and High Point this summer, other than those offer it’s been pretty much the same just a lot of interest.
Q: What’s one area of your game that you feel like you want and need to improve?
Jamal: I would like to improve on getting the rebound and pushing it up the floor to make a play. If I can get a bucket then get the bucket but if not, set up the offense, just being an overall better leader for my team.
Q: Who is somebody that you compare your game to, or a person that you take things from their game and add it to yours?
Jamal: NBA it would have to be Russel Westbrook because he is always aggressive, which is something that I would like to have in my game, and then the leadership of LeBron James.
