Impact Freshman: 2017 Stars Set To Shine
The class of 2017 was a little on the down side in comparison to some classes of recent memory, still the 2017 class at the top was solid. We are taking a look at some of the impact freshman from North Carolina that can come in and play a significant role in their freshman season.
Lavar Batts-The once VCU commit chose NC State and Kevin Keatts after Will Wade took the job at LSU. Batts is quick as lightning and should be able to come in at NC State and get some major minutes early. He is quick with the ball in his hands and doesn’t make very many mistakes. He will come in and provide energy on the floor and I could see him averaging somewhere in the 7-8 points per game area.
JP Moorman-The Greensboro Day product is playing his college career at Temple University. The “point forward” has a excellent ability to handle the ball and with his size can play the forward spot. He has a college ready body and should be able to come in and make an impact at Temple. He is as well coached of a player as you will find, playing for Hall of Fame Coach Freddy Johnson at Greensboro Day. I predict Moorman to average somewhere in the 6-7 points per game region.
Brandon Huffman-The UNC big man will have no choice to get early minutes as a Tar Heel. North Carolina lost most of their size last season due to graduation (Kennedy Meeks and Isaiah Hicks) and the NBA Draft (Tony Bradley). Huffman is a big shouldered, wide bodied big man that will come in and get easy baskets in the paint and get rebounds. He is able to run the floor and I can see him averaging somewhere in the 5-6 points per game as freshman.
