A Closer Look: Coby White
North Carolina Head Coach Roy Williams has always tried to keep the local North Carolina hoops talent at home when it came time for them to decide on the college they would choose. Greenfield School senior guard Coby White fell into that category as he chose the Tar Heels for his college destination.
On track to break the record held by another player that at one time had committed to Roy Williams, James’Son Curry, for the most career points scored in North Carolina basketball history. White is a scorer and he knows it. He is so shifty and quick with the ball in his hands it is hard for any defense to control him. He shoots it consistently from the three-point line and knocks down mid-range
Coby Whitejumpers all day.
The most important part to his game in my opinion is his desire to play as hard as he can on every single play. He never takes a play off and is full of so much heart and pride for the game that it can not be measured. He plays with such an intensity and fire in his game that I can only think of a handful of players that I have seen that showed it as much as White. He has the desire to win every time he steps out on the court for Greenfield School.
He will join Cox Mill High School forward Rechon Black and Orlando Christian Prep standout Nassir Little as part of the 2018 North Carolina recruiting class. The 2018 class is one of the best Roy Williams has secured at North Carolina since the academic scandal hit the news waves almost 6 years ago. Now with the scandal behind them and the NCAA ruling that nothing illegal had taken place, his first class since this news is one of the strongest in the country.
