Catching Up With Keldon Johnson
Q: How was the experience for you at the Hoops & Dreams Showcase?
Keldon: It was an amazing experience, an awesome facility, had good competition, I’m blessed to play in an event like this.
Q: What’s something that you try to remember each time you step on the floor?
Keldon: Give it 100%, I can’t control how many shots I make but I can control how much effort I give and how I play defense.
Q: Oak Hill is a legendary place, you walk in the gym and see all the guys that have come before you, how has the experience been there for you?
Keldon: It’s just school and basketball, everything else is like family. We all are tight knit, all we do hang out together, socialize, and do homework and things like that. We have each other’s back and it’s just a great atmosphere.
Q: College wise, what’s going on with your decision?
Keldon: It’s pretty much the same, I’m planning on sitting down with my family and talking about it, I’m not sure as to what date yet. As of right now my list is at 4 with the four being: Kentucky, Maryland, NC State and Texas.
Q: What’s a college or NBA player that you compare your game to and why?
Keldon: I would say Westbrook because of the effort and energy I play with, he has a very high passion for the game and so do I. Also Dwayne Bacon, I try to watch him play a lot and he came from Oak Hill as well, I just try and take bits and pieces from his game. Also I would probably say Chris Paul , I like to get my teammates involved more now than I have before in the past , I know basketball is a team sport so if I’m making my teammates better than its better for me.
Q: So does Chris Paul have anything to do with you wearing #3?
Keldon: Actually when I was younger that was my favorite player, I use to love Chris Paul.
Q: So you’re cool with the Houston move?
Keldon: I don’t know about that one yet, he hasn’t really got the chance to play for them much
