Whats Going On? Final Days of October
This week will be the start of the high school basketball season for many teams around the state, as usual some teams have loaded up with new talent while others who were younger will hope that an extra year of experience will be enough to help their squad. Also there has been quite a bit going on as far as recruitment, with visits and players cutting down their list.
- Two teams that have took the rebuilding approach will be face on Thursday as New Life Christian will take on Fayetteville Christian. Both team are young but have some talent and it will be interesting to see how long it will take them to build proper chemistry and get fully comfortable.
- The Hoops and Dreams Showcase will begin on Friday night at the Crown Arena, Northwood Temple, Freedom Christian, Word of God, Huntington Prep and Bull City Prep will all be in action on the first night of the event.
- Fayetteville Academy 6’9 Forward/Center Emmanuel Izunabor picked up his first D1 offer from East Carolina University and followed that up with an unofficial visit to Campbell University for their Midnight Madness event.
- Former Word of God Guard Evan Johnson is headed to Oak Hill Academy, Evan was a top 2020 prospect in the state but will be headed up to Oak Hill where he will be learning from one of the top high school coaches in the country and competing for minutes.
- Cox Mill HS Guard Wendell Moore cut his list down to 10, some of these schools included on that list were Duke, Florida State, UNC and Kansas. Moore is coming off a state championship year and will look to repeat this season with new transfer Rechon Black coming in.
- University of Cincinnati stopped in this week to check out Trinity Christian 2019 Guard Audiese Toney and 2019 F Greg Gantt, both have a nice amount of D1 offers and have seen their stock rise as of late.
