Western Mountain 3-A Conference Players to Watch
The NCHSAA realignment has made one of the toughest conferences in WNC even better, loaded with a lot of talent. Here is a look at some of the top players in the Western Mountain Athletic Conference this season.
Isaiah Pruett-Senior guard Isaiah Pruett is a returning all-conference and Citizen-Times WNC 2nd team selection. He is a talented lead guard that can take over a game with his shooting ability and his quickness. He knows the offense
Isaiah Pruettat Reynolds High School and knows what it takes to win at the program. He is skilled at getting into the lane and either making a difficult shot or finding the open man for an easy basket. He scored 26 points going head to head against Shelby HS guard Quay Kimble who is now at Lees-McRae College. Pruett will look to lead the Rockets this season again and get them into the playoffs.
Landon Henley-Tuscola big man Henley was a beast last season as a sophomore averaging nearly 19 points and 13 rebounds per game. He is skilled with his back to the basket and can also step out and make the long range shot. He is a sturdy 6-foot-6 forward who can play the four-spot at the next level. He is a force when he gets position in the post to grab rebounds and get easy put-backs.
Jake Smith-The junior guard has had one of biggest improvements over a course of 6 months as I have seen in a long time. Playing with The SC Raptors/Team South Carolina, Smith played against better players in practice and in games all summer. He will be one of the best guards in the area this upcoming season. He has improved his shot, he has got bigger and he has improved his ball-handling. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some offers going his way during this season.
