Top Returning Players GCL Co-Ed (Central Division)
We are 31 days from the opening tip of regular season basketball and the excitement is starting to fill the air. With the start of the season approaching so fast, it’s time to look at the teams and talent in each conference in the Cincinnati area. We start our conference previews with a look at the top returning talent, beginning with the GCL Co-Ed Central Division.
Brandon Bibbs 5’10 G- Roger Bacon High School (2018)
Bibbs will be a very important factor to a Spartan team that will not have much varsity experience. Of Bacon’s top 6 players from last season, Bibbs is the only one returning for this season. Known more as a defensive stopper, Brandon will have to step up his offensive production and leadership from last season if Roger Bacon is to contend in this tough conference.
Cole Burdick 6’0 G- Archbishop McNicholas High School (2018)
An underrated performer in the conference, Burdick teams with Ryan Reidy to form one of the best backcourts in the GCL Co-Ed. Last season it was Burdick who lead the team in scoring at almost 13 per game. If he can become a more efficient scorer this season McNick could have a very strong season this year.
AJ Garrett 6’5 F- Purcell Marian High School (#47 Class of 2019)
This is a young man that is oozing with talent. Finished the year last season with three straight double-digit scoring games according to the GCL website. A player that does his damage from the mid-range area on down, look for Garrett to significantly up his scoring average of 7.5 from last season.
Javonta Lyons 6’1 W/F- Purcell Marian High School (2019)
The leading returning scorer from the Central division of the conference (13.1 in 20117), this power wing will be giving opposing coaches in this conference problems for the next two seasons. Lyons has the strength of a power forward but ball skills of a guard and is not afraid of contact. One of the many reasons why the Cavaliers are considered by many to be the favorite to finish 1st in the league.
Ryan Reidy 6’0 PG/G- Archbishop McNicholas (#179 Class of 2019)
One of the more underrated PG’s in the city, Reidy along with the before mentioned Cole Burdick will be looked upon to lead McNick this season. Ryan finished tied for 1st in the conference in assist per game at 4.4 last season.
