Terry Sanford Open Gym/Season Preview
Terry Sanford HS will look to have another good season this year as they begin their 2nd season under Head Coach Darren Corbett, the Bulldogs advanced fairly far in the state playoffs last year and have some nice pieces on the squad this year. If they lock in and play hard every night, they will be able to compete with a lot of the teams they are matched up with.
Senior PG Malik Johnson: If the Bulldogs want to be successful, they will need the leadership from Malik, he’s logged major minutes since he was a freshman and has been to the state championship game two out of three seasons.
Sophomore Wing Yates Johnson: Sleeper Alert!!!!! This young man can flat out play and has a chance to be successful. He has a smooth shooting stroke, nice size for a wing and a good IQ for the game, expect a breakout season from him.
Senior Wing Gabe Harrison: He’s improved in a major way over the summer and displayed multiple ways throughout the workout, he’s strong and athletic and will need to step up for the Bulldogs to be successful.
Senior Guard Drew Baker: One of the more surprising players at the workout, he was impressive with his ability to handle the ball, score, make plays above the rim and run a team. He will be needed this season as a backup PG and to play on the ball when Malik Johnson decides to play off the ball.
Junior Guard Kildrick Goolsby: Every team needs toughness at all positions, and that’s what this young man brings to the table. He has a nice game but more importantly he plays the game with a confidence that makes those around him confident as well, don’t be surprised to see him cause a high amount of problems for opponents with his defense.
