Season Preview: Jacksonville HS
Jacksonville HS is a program that has had its fair share of success over the years, they have won conference championships as well as making deep runs into the state playoffs. Several players in recent years have moved on to play at the college level, such as Bobby Grubbs (Chowan), Chris Smith (UNCP), and Billy Bodette (Pitt CC). This year the squad features a few players that could have a chance at playing at the next level, they finished the season last year 13-13 but gained valuable experience which should help them be successful this season.
Jacksonville HS 2018 F Tyler Hines: The first time that I got the chance to see Tyler play was over the summer during ECI Team Camp, he brought maximum effort all game long and has a frame that allows him to play the game in a physical manner. He’s still raw offensively but for this team he provides exactly what is needed at his position.
Jacksonville HS 2018 Guard David Pickett: Has potential to be a nice player, small in stature but plays with big time heart, has smooth ball handling skills and very impressive speed. D3 programs have already been looking at him as he could be a nice fit for a team on that level.
Jacksonville HS 2018 Guard Chris Coleman: Shows some flashes of how good he can be, scores the ball at a decent rate and brings energy for his squad. Every team needs a player that can get the rest of the squad excited about competing and he is that guy for his team.
Jacksonville HS 2018 Guard Nyjear Singleton: Definitely was the MVP for the Jacksonville HS team over the summer, he has a gift for getting into the paint and scoring or drawing fouls, also does a great job of knocking down the deep shots even when contested. Solid looking prospect overall, will be one that college coaches should keep an eye on this season.
