Preseason All-Conference: River Valley South
Player of the Year: 2018 Logan Hoffman, Tipton
Don’t be surprised if the Tipton big man averages a double-double, and a big one at that, for a Tigers team that will contend with Regina at the top of the division.
First Team
2018 Logan Hoffman, Tipton (22.8 points, 7.9 rebounds, 56.3 FG%, 81.9 FT%)
A highly efficient big man with great touch, Hoffman has worked on expanding his game and is now capable of knocking down an occasional 3 to go with his exceptional work around the rim. He’s going to have a huge senior season for the Tigers.
2019 Beau Cornwell, West Branch (19.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 3.3 steals)
With nearly 24 points a game graduated with the loss of Cooper Kabela, look for Cornwell to be among the leaders in scoring in the state, regardless of class. A talented scoring guard with unlimited range and confidence, he’s capable of erupting at any moment.
2019 Andrew Stewart, Tipton (15.3 points, 2.6 rebounds)
Stewart will be looking to build on a strong sophomore season in which he was among the division’s leaders in scoring and 3-pointers made with 48. He and Hoffman form a dynamic duo that is going to win a lot of games this winter.
2018 Jocoa Kerschen, Iowa City Regina (12.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists)
A much better shooter than the 32.1% he shot from the arc last season, look for Kerschen’s efficiency numbers to skyrocket with a Regina team that has a chance to make a run at a state title.
2020 Even Brauns, Iowa City Regina (10.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.3 blocks, 59.5 FG%)
The most talented player int he conference, the 6-8 sophomore big had a strong freshman season and is going to have a huge sophomore season for a Regals team that is going to be among the best in 2A.
