MIAA A Conference: Under the Radar Seniors (Part 1)
We recently released our preview for the MIAA A Conference. Through and through, this conference is loaded with talent ranging from high-major Division I to quality Division III prospects.
For this series, we’re taking a look at the more under the radar seniors. Their levels of play range accordingly with what was stated in the opening paragraph. Some have started receiving interest from colleges and some haven’t heard a peep. All of these players can help contribute to a collegiate program somewhere.
Jordan Jones | 6’7 | Mount Carmel
Jones is one of the top players in the conference. So how does that make him a candidate for this list you ask? Jones’ recruiting hasn’t picked up, yet. The 6’7 forward suffered an ankle injury this summer, which forced him to miss some time with Team BBC’s 17U squad. Back to 100 percent health, Jones looks to lead the Cougars back to the MIAA and BCL title games after losing in both games last season. Jones has a nice build and very high basketball IQ. He is efficient around the rim and in the mid-range and can impact the game on the glass.
Connor Walsh | 6’4 | Boys’ Latin
Walsh is a very athletic guard that can provide a show when given the chance during breakaways in transition. He’s more than just a fun leaper, though. Walsh knows how to play the game. Although he is an aggressive scorer when he gets the ball, he knows how to read rotations and make extra passes for open teammates. Defensively he is a competitor and is always active in passing lanes. The 6’4 guard is courting a lot of Division II interest and currently holds an offer from Millersville.
Ed Ferguson | 6’5 | St. Frances
Ferguson is an offensively-gifted prospect. The 6’5 wing can score from all three levels. He can catch fire from deep in a hurry whether it’s off the catch or breaking his man down off the dribble and pulling up. On a St. Frances team that’s loaded with talent, sometimes Ferguson’s abilities can get overshadowed, but his play has caught the eyes of five Division I programs who have offered him. These schools include: Southern Utah, Siena, Mount St. Mary’s, North Carolina A&T and Coastal Carolina.
Kendall McMillian | 6’2 | Mount St. Joseph
McMillian is the type of player that can fill whatever role his team needs throughout a specific game. If he is called on to get his teammates involved by being more of a facilitator and distributor, he’ll do it. The 6’2 guard can also break his man down off the dribble and finish around the rim as well as knock down spot-up jumpers. McMillian will be a key contributor this season for the Gaels, who look to repeat at MIAA and BCL champions. He currently holds no offers, but has interest from schools including: St. Thomas Aquinas, Wheeling Jesuit, New Haven, Seton Hill, Catawba, Millersville, Roanoke, Marymount, Penn State-Harrisburg, Randolph Macon and Hood.
Will Miller | 6’1 | Mount Carmel
Miller is one of the deadliest long range shooters in the state. While he can hit shots off the dribble, Miller is most effective making the defense pay for poor rotations or lazy close outs and hitting three’s off quick swing passes or kick outs from teammates. Because of his size, Miller knows that he will be playing point guard at the next level, so developing those skills have been the main priority throughout his summer with AAU and workouts. Miller isn’t currently hearing from any schools consistently, but should be on the radar of many college coaches.
