Kansas and Maryland Visit Dotson
The recruiting saga for one of North Carolina’s top players will come to an end on Friday. 2018 point guard Devon Dotson of Providence Day (Charlotte) will be making his college decision at 6PM before the Providence Day football game against Charlotte Country Day.
Dotson had Kansas Head Coach Bill Self and assistant coach Norm Roberts visit with him and his family the afternoon. Maryland Head Coach Mark Turgeon also made the trip do to give a final pitch to Dotson and his family. He is down to these two schools as Florida was in the running but received a commitment from another five-star point guard in Andrew Nembhard almost two weeks ago. UCLA also came on strong but in the end it will be between Kansas and Maryland for his services.
He has ties to Maryland as his Team Charlotte teammate Aaron Wiggins (Wesleyan Christian) picked the Terrapins over the summer.
If he chooses Kansas, The Jayhawks would have landed their replacement for Devonte Graham and another top level player from North Carolina.
The type of player that one of these schools will be getting in Dotson is a tough, hard-nosed winning point guard. He is strong with the ball in his hands and can score the basketball. He is a good shooter from beyond the three-point line and he is good at attacking the paint and finishing in transition. He helped lead Team Charlotte to the 2015 Under Armour Championship and runner-up finish this season. He helped Providence Day win the NCISAA 3-A state title in 2016.
