Hoops & Dreams Showcase : Players to Watch
With the Hoops and Dreams Basketball Showcase coming up this weekend, we decided to put out a list of players that you may not have seen before or heard of before but you will want to see them this weekend. These players are all at their first year in their prospective schools so of course they are each still going through the adjustment period but once they get comfortable they will flourish. College coaches and fans should get familiar with these names and keep a close eye on them this weekend.
(Nov 4 vs Mount Zion Prep) FTCC Guard Josh Haymer: Point Guard Josh Haymer is coming off of a high school career where he helped lead his team to back to back state championships and has a high IQ for the game. It will be interesting to see how he transitions to the college level but we fully expect him to be able to do some of the same things he did on the high school level.
(Nov 4 vs Liberty Heights) 2019 Freedom Christian Guard Brandon Murray: A 3 point specialist who can put the ball on the floor and has added athleticism to his game. He is constantly improving his game and is more aggressive than he was in previous years, at a new school he is going to get the opportunity to show his improvement against other top talent.
(Nov 3 vs Word of God) 2021 Huntington Prep Forward Jonathan Kuminga: The first time I got to see this young man was at the CP3 Rising Stars camp in Winston Salem and he impressed just about everybody in attendance. He’s 6’7 with skills to play in the post and on the perimeter, and has a body that is developed beyond his years. Without a doubt, he is a player that will be spoken of top 25 nationally in the class of 2021 rankings.
