Flight 22 Jamboree Preview: Part 2
East Columbus HS
This squad finished last season 7-17 and will look to be in a rebuilding year again with the loss of three of the team’s leading scorers. The returner that they will look to, to help them score the ball will be rising Senior Forward Stephon Smith, who averaged 7 points per game last year. The team also lost is leading rebounder and assist man due to graduation so the Gators will need to look to fill these holes by committee. It will take time for players to find their roles so fans and supporters should be patient with what they expect to see when the season begins.
West Columbus HS
Unlike many of the teams that will be in attendance at the Jamboree, West Columbus has one of their leading scorers returning to the team this year in rising Senior Forward Jake Brownlee who averaged 14 Points and 9 Rebounds per game. The team also returns one of their top defenders in Sophomore Guard Tayvon Tyler who led the team in steals averaging 1.7 Steals per game as a freshman last year, his quick hands and defensive IQ was a huge help for the squad on the defensive end.
First Flight HS
When this team comes to town, you better lace up your sneakers and make sure the nets and rims are in good shape because they are going to get up and down the court as well as shooting a high amount of treys. They feature one of the top shooters in the state in Dylan Blake who can shoot it from deep but also has improved in his ability to get to the basket in a major way. Blake is not alone though, the squad has multiple guys that can really shoot it including Tyler Witt knocking down shots from deep, getting his team into their sets and making good passes.
