Cape Fear HS Season Preview
The Cape Fear HS Colts are under new guidance with first year Coach Alphonso Kee taking over, they lost several starters but have a nice amount of talent that will be suiting up this year. The team has put in a high amount of work and have taken the time over the summer to mesh, here are few of the players we expect to have standout seasons and who college coaches should keep an eye on.
Cape Fear HS Forward Myron Williams: Myron is a player that excels in the half court and has versatile skills, he’ strong in the post, as well and knocking down the elbow and short corner jumpers. Rebounding was where he did the most damage last season as he was one of the leaders in the state in rebounds per game.
Cape Fear HS Guard Kevin McLaughlin: Logged major minutes for Cape Fear HS last year at the PG spot, he understands how the position is supposed to be played getting everybody involved. He was unselfish and a very willing passer, he has nice speed and acceleration to go with a decent floater, which is huge for a guy his height (5’9).
Cape Fear HS Guard Shaq Angel: He has tremendous athletic ability and a high amount of untapped raw talent. He can score the ball from every level and still looks like he may have a late growth spurt in him. On the defensive end of the floor, he blocks shots exceptionally well for a guard and is what some would call a pesky defender. With former Fayetteville State Coach Kee taking the job at Cape Fear, he will be getting the opportunity to be coached and we expect that to help him to get reach more of his potential.
Cape Fear HS Senior Guard Messiah Bryant: Another guard that is smaller in height but has a toughness to his game that will help his squad. He plays strong defense, controls the ball well on the offensive end and plays the game under control.
