Another Triangle Challenege Fall League is in the books !
Another Fall League is in the books! On Saturday we got the chance to check out the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds of the league and it was without a doubt a very competitive day with lots of talent. The JV league championship would go to the TriStars Academy squad while the varsity league championship would be taken home by the Teen Center squad. A huge shout out should be given to the league organizer Jawann Baker once again for a great job again, he provided a platform not only for kids to be seen but to play in a structured, organized environment. So let’s begin out recap with some of the players from the Championship team that impressed in the games we watched them play.
Guard Jaylan Neal C/O 2019-They say bigtime players, make bigtime plays and that’s exactly what this young man did. He’s skilled with the ability to score on multiple levels and doesn’t allow himself to get sped up at all. In the Semi-Final game with just seconds remaining, he caught the ball at half court, faked to his right took a few dribbles to the left and pulled up from beyond the three point line to hit a game winner that would send his team to the championship.
Guard DJ Thomas C/O 2019- He’s a small guard but plays the game with a huge heart, with his speed and strength, he’s a difficult player for taller guards to defend. He got to the cup just about whenever he wanted and knows how to finish over taller players. What I really liked about his game was how calm he seemed to be when they game came down to the wire, he kept his team composed and made the most of each possession. Be on the lookout for him to have a very nice season for Broughton High School.
