Will Village Christian win it’s 3rd state chip in a row?
Village Christian has been the NCISAA 2A State Champs for the past two seasons and will look to make another run at it in this season with a squad that is pretty much brand new. The Knights return only 2 players from last season but have several new transfers in that should give the Knights an opportunity to 3 peat. We stopped in on Thursday evening to see Village workout/open gym and we left very impressed, here are a few of the prospect that stood out.
2019 F/C FiiFi Quansah: The progression of this young man is something special, over the past year he has gone from a player learning the game, to a legit D1 prospect. He finished the ball well inside offensively, blocked shots, and rebounded well, expect a very productive year from him.
2018 Guard Junub Char Chuol: He may be the highest ranked prospect on the team at this point and you can see why but just watching him for a few moments. At about 6’5 he can score the ball, facilitate, and defend against quick guards.
2020 Guard Jayce Ford: Was a solid throughout, has a smooth game and a nice amount of potential, can shoot the ball and gets to his spots well.
2019 Guard Trevion McCray: Scored the ball very well and seems like he knows how to run a team, doesn’t back down from any challenge and plays strong. Brings some leadership to the squad in just the attitude that he plays with every time he steps on the floor.
2022 Wing Jalen Higgins: The potential is there for him without a doubt, he can shoot the ball from deep, as well as get to the basket. He was the youngest player on the court so of course he still has some growing to do body physique wise but he’s definitely a player to keep an eye on.
2019 Wing Khuath Gatkuoth: He went do with a minor injury in about the middle of workouts but prior to that he showed he has the skill to score the ball. He’s 6’5 with a nice amount of potential and skill and will be a player that colleges will want to track and keep an eye on over the next 2 years.
