Top Priority’s in North Carolina
The class of 2018 is one of the stronger classes in recent years from top to bottom. Here is a look at some of the uncommitted seniors in the class and what their recruitment is looking like.
Hunter TysonHunter Tyson 6’7 wing (Piedmont HS/Team CP3)-His recruitment made some noise yesterday as it was revealed that he went on an official visit to Davidson and has set a visit date for Clemson University. He will visit Death Valley on September 23. “I’m still open to new offers,” Tyson said in a text message last night to me. Tyson is a big in a wings’ body. He has great size to bang down low and the ability to shoot it from deep. He also holds offers from Michigan, Wake Forest, Butler, DePaul, Elon, East Carolina, Tennessee and Providence. Providence and Wake Forest are essentially out as possible destinations for an official visit because of the their recent commitments from the 2018 class. That leaves Michigan as a possible official visit site along with Clemson.
Jairus Hamilton 6’8 forward (Cannon School/Team Loaded)-Hamilton has a wingspan at nearly 6’10” long arms, quick off the floor and can move laterally very fast. Has a college ready body and possesses a strong handle for his size to go along with being an above average rebounder. He recently picked up an offer from Florida State. He holds offers from in-state schools Duke, North Carolina, NC State and Wake Forest. I would not be surprised to see Hamilton stay in state for his college destination.
Trey Wertz 6’5 SG Providence Day/Team Loaded NC-One of the best shooters in the state, has the size to play the two or three position at the next level. He had a mediocre summer by his standards but made up for it in Las Vegas leading the scoring for Team Loaded NC in most games. Boston College recently offered making two ACC schools along with Clemson. Yale, Harvard, Temple, Rice, Penn, Davidson (where former PDS Wildcat Jordan Watkins is a senior), LaSalle, Old Dominion, Santa Clara, Cornell, UMass and Murray State are all possible destinations for the former MVP of the NCISAA state championship.
