Recruiting Review: Jack Hemphill (2018)
Big men are always the hardest ones to find and what college coaches are looking for the most when it comes spring. A skilled big man can change the way a team can play and allows them to stretch the defense with his ability to alter shots in the paint.
Jack Hemphill is a 6-foot-9, 225lb power forward for Ravenscroft School in Raleigh, North Carolina. He played this summer with Team CP3 on the Nike EYBL circuit. He is a long and fundamentally sound power forward. He has good footwork around the post area. He has the ability to step out and knock down the mid-range jumper. He is a solid rebounder and is physical in the paint.
He is scheduled to take one of his official visits to Wisconsin on September 29. “I am hoping to Geta good feel for the school in order to make a more educated decision,” he said about his visit. He has offers from McNeese State, Binghamton, Hartford, American, Boston, App State, Youngstown State, William and Mary, Presbyterian, Furman, Morehead State, New Hampshire, Houston Baptist, Columbia, Navy, UNC-Wilmington, James Madison and Kent State. “I am still kinda wide open, I never cut my list or anything and I am still hearing from all of the schools that have offered me.”
This is his senior season at Ravenscroft School and he has some goals for the upcoming season, “My goals for this year is to win a state championship. My personal goals would be to win conference player of the year and to be named All-State.”
I would imagine that an offer from Wisconsin might be too hard to pass up while he is on his visit with the Badgers. I could see Hemphill pulling the trigger on a high-major school and taking advantage of the situation.
