Recruiting Report: Jaden Springer
2020 guard Jaden Springer of Rocky River High School/B Maze Elite has been picking up the offers lately. He is the top-ranked player in the 2020 PrepHoopsNC’s rankings and was recently offered by Tennessee. NC State offered the combo guard in late August.
Springer is the combo guard that plays both ends of the floor at a high level, he is a slashing scorer, has great court-vision, can score from all three layers on the floor, can finish through contact, has the ability to create off the dribble, at at a young age possesses a high basketball IQ. Needs to work on making the mid-range as he has played down in years past. He was used to bullying players his own age into the paint and not relying on making those kind of shots.
His father, Gary Springer Sr. was a McDonald’s All-American, a three time All-American at Iona College and was named All-MAAC conference three times before being drafted in the NBA by the Philadelphia 76ers.
Jaden’s brothers Gary and Jordan have impressive resumes in their own right. Gary (6’9”) graduated from Iona and is a high school basketball coach in Georgia and Jordan (6’7”) graduated from West Point. His cousin, DeAndre Bembry (6’6”), starred at St. Joseph’s University and was drafted in he NBA Draft.
For B. Maze Elite this summer, Springer had a strong showing all summer. He showed his ability to score the basketball consistently all summer.
At Rocky River this season he will be forced to carry the load of the scoring and ball-handling duties as some transfers have hit Rocky River hard this offseason. Junior guard Mikey Maddox has transferred to Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia and 2019 guard Raquan Brown has transferred to Butler High School.
His offers to date are Wake Forest, New Mexico State, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Old Dominion, Virginia Tech, UCLA, Murray State and NC State.
